
Lake Rules
1. Please obey these rules as they are there to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests at 7 Lakes Country Park. They should be considered a minimum requirement and do not replace good practice by all lake users. Only rules that are relevant to guests are shown.
1a. Please pay particular attention to rules that are in RED.
1b. Guests are not permitted to bring powered craft on to the lake. Only unpowered craft are allowed and these must be registered with the reception on arrival.
2. Failing to adhere to these rules and the instructions of the Lake Warden may lead your membership to being cancelled without notice.
3. 7 Lakes Country Park cannot accept any responsibility all liability for loss or damage to property or person whilst within the boundaries of the park dash craft are kept on site and are used at the owner’s risk.
Lake times
5. 08:00 – 10:00 Unpowered Craft
6. 10:00 – 15:00 (or dusk if sooner) – Jet Skis
7. 15:00 – dusk Unpowered Craft
All watercraft must …
11. Carry suitable safety equipment.
12. Any unpowered craft with a sail must be insured. Provide a copy of the insurance to the office on arrival.
18. Trailers can be stored under caravans [possible by partial dismantling – talk to the Lake Warden] Or taken off site. Do not store trailers around caravans.
19. Rowing boats must be a maximum of four metres long can be stored ashore after use in a location approved by the Lake Warden.
20. Sailing dinghy’s must be a maximum of 4.3 metres long and be stored ashore [in a location agreed with the Lake Warden] or on a pontoon after use. All sailing craft must have a mast float fitted.
21. For guest information only – No Powered craft [other than jet skis] are allowed on the lake.
22a. Any guest craft must be registered at reception on arrival.
Lake users must:
23. Have knowledge of your craft operation and safety rules
24. Never operate a craft after consuming alcohol or drugs.
26. Always wear a suitable buoyancy aid, clothing and shoes.
27.Be able to swim.
28. All lake users with sail mounted craft must supply a copy of insurance [not a cover note] to the office.
RYA certification
29. All jet ski users must hold a current RYA PWC Certificate of Competence and provide a copy to the office.
30. Ensure all users of your craft are covered by your insurance policy. Under sixteens have to be under adult supervision at all times and have completed their RYA PWC Certificate of Competence.
Jet ski rules
The rules 31 – 50 below are relevant only to owners jet skis but are shown for the information and safety of the guest.
31. Jet skis must travel in an anticlockwise direction.
32. Follow the designated course indicated by the marker boys. Keep red buoys to your left and yellow buoys to your right.
33. Small buoys mark the safe areas around the lake edge in front of the caravans or entry exit lanes for parking areas: use tick over speed only.
34. Water skis and toys use the outer section of the lake.
35. Keep 10 metres from other craft, jetties and embankments and 20 metres from caravans.
36. Drive at a safe, suitable speed to avoid collisions.
37. Do not alter your course or direction or speed when being overtaken.
38. Give way to any craft you are overtaking.
39. Always look behind you before preparing to turn.
40. Operate craft safely and within the manufacturer’s recommendations.
41. Launch jet skis only from the designated slipway located behind the bar in the front field and only with prior permission from the Lake Warden. The slipway is closed during wet weather and if previous rain has left the approach field unsuitable for vehicles.
Jet ski safety flag and light system
42. Flags and all lights are displayed adjacent to the state the Lake Wardens ski
43. Red Flag/Light – No jet skis are allowed on the water. For example, before 1000 hours and after 1500 hours. If displayed between 1 000-1500 jet skis must stop immediately as this signals in an emergency situation everyone must be remain stationary until instructed to move by the Lake Warden or the green flag is displayed again.
44. Yellow Flag/Light – Jet skis are allowed but warden may not be present. It is the caravan owners responsibility to ensure lake users are observed by a family member from the lake edge and to alert emergency services should it be necessary.
45. Green Flag/Light – The water is deemed safe. When displayed between 1000-1500 hours it indicates the lake Warden is present.
46. RYA flag – Means RYA training courses are taking place and you must keep clear of skis under instruction.
Toys, Water skis and kneeboards
47. Yellow Flag/Light – 30MPH speed limit for all craft on the water is enforced to allow for towed toys, wakeboarding and water skiing. We advise having a second jet ski following toys to protect passengers if they fall into the water and assist recovery.
48. Towing times will be 1130-1300 hours and 1400-1500 hours and may be adjusted at the discretion of the Lake Warden who will alter the flag light signals accordingly if required.
49. When the yellow Flag/Light is removed towed toys and other equipment must leave the water.
Fuel storage
50. A maximum of 40 litres of fuel may be stored on site. Fuel must be held in purpose manufactured metal or plastic jerrycans marked petroleum spirit highly flammable. The cans must be stored outside stores or in vehicles. They must not be stored under caravans or decks or inside caravans. Fill the jet ski on arrival to minimise the amount of fuel held onshore.
Unacceptable behaviour
51. It is the responsibility of parents or guardians and not 7 Lakes staff to supervise under sixteens using any craft.
52. No diving, swimming or paddling in the lakes.
53. Do not operate craft near the slipways – this area is for launching only.
54. Do not remove stones from the banks or water as this erodes the embankment.
55. Never exceed the craft’s maximum load weight or carry more people in the craft is designed for. e.g. one person only on a stand up jet ski.
56. No craft are permitted to use the stream leading from the northern end of the main lake near CLW80.
Disciplinary procedure
57. Failing to follow these rules, the instructions of the Lake Warden or dangerous or discourteous behaviour will result in a verbal warning in the first instance, a 24 hour banned from the water in the second instance and termination of your lake membership in the third instance.
